Floyd Norman's Views on Racism while working at Disney Studios

In addition to writing new stuff, I also want to use this substack to repost/archive some of the more chunkier research instagram posts I’ve posted in the past. My goal in this is to make these posts easier for folks to search, share and read. I originally posted this on my instagram on August. 16, 2024.

“Floyd Norman is a very strange/complex guy in my opinion.
His comics/drawings are hot and spicy, but everything he says is disney corporate fluff.
I would highly recommend his books that have his old sketches. They are so angry, spicy and relevant even today. v good.

Also the 2016 documentary on him gives more insight into some of the interesting stuff he did in the 70s with black animator Leo Sullivan in establishing AfroKids Animation Studio and how he used an old camera from Disney to film the Watts Riots '66. o_o
